Megan Crook

Director, Public Policy

Megan Crook is the Director of Public Policy for the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City, a prominent business leadership organization committed to fostering a more inclusive and prosperous future for the region. Leveraging her background in economic and community development, Megan guides corporate and civic leaders in developing impactful policy solutions for the region and provides direction and support to the multi-state partnership, Heartland Civic Collaborative. 

 

With a career spanning various sectors including neighborhood development, finance, higher education, and the arts, Megan has championed initiatives through strategic partnerships, resource development, and effective communication. Previously, she held leadership positions at AltCap and Community Capital Fund, where she directed external strategies to empower underestimated entrepreneurs, instituted impact measurement practices, and led advocacy efforts at the Federal and state levels. Megan's earlier roles in marketing, grantmaking, and program management further enriched her diverse skill set.

 

An Aspen Ideas Fellow in 2022, Megan's commitment to community service extends to her involvement on boards and steering committees for organizations such as Starting Early, KCMO Municipal Art Commission, Music Across Borders, ArtsKC, Madame President Camp, and various state arts advisory panels. She earned her Masters of Public Administration with an emphasis in Urban Policy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Megan resides in the Historic Northeast neighborhood of Kansas City with her family.
